First off - thanks for
coming to my site. I really hope you had the chance to explore everything
and even took the time to read some of my short stories. I have been trying to design an "about me" page for a while and just can seem to find a format I like. So here's what I'm going to do - below is a bunch of questions and answers that will hopefully give everyone a chance to "meet" me. If something isn't answered, go to my Contact page and send me an email!
When did you start writing?
I started writing when I learned to hold a pencil. Seriously, I have been writing for a long time. And reading too. When all my friends were reading 100 page children books, my nose was stuck in novels. I remember my first real novel I ever read. It was Pet Sematary by Stephen King. Book scared me to death - as did the movie.
My writing and reading habits have changed again and again but no matter what I do, I end up back to horror. My love for horror started as a kid and never stopped!
I still have a copy of my first novel from when I was about twelve years old. It was about twenty pages or so - not really a novel - but a big deal for me! And I have a copy of a short story book I wrote. The novel? A mystery about a murder. The short story book? All horror. . . complete with murder and ghosts!
What inspires you to write?
The idea of taking everyday life and twisting it. And my inspiration also comes from the reason I like to read: I want to be taken away from my world for a little bit. When I pick up a book, I want to get lost in another. I don't want to be Jim reading a book, I want to be in the book. And there have been plenty of bad days turned good because I had a chance to read. . .
I personally figure that if I can do the same, then I've accomplish my goal.
Why do you write?
Because I something to say. As long as I hear voices and think of stories and can type, write, edit, and share it with the world, I'll do it.
Where can someone read your work?
Thanks to internet, I've been to reach out and share my stories with more people that I have expected too. I have my list of published stories where readers can read or purchase the anthologies the story is in but I also have a "stories-only" blog set up where I share some stories. These are mostly flash fiction, meaning 1,000 words or less. I like challenging myself to not only carve out those 80,000 word novels but to also tell an entire story in only 1,000 words.
Read some of the stories!
I also like having that blog because it allows readers to comment which allows me to interact with my readers.
Enough about writing. Spill some personal things!
I live right outside of Allentown, PA. I grew up the Scranton area - "Ain't no party like a Scranton party, cuz a Scranton party don't stop!". And yes, I watch The Office - it is, by far, the greatest show ever.
I have been married two years, have a 19 month old son AND I have another son on the way due in May 2010! My wife and I are eagerly trying to figure out what to do with two kids!
When I'm not writing or spending time with my family, I am playing guitar and writing music. I have a little four track recorder and an editing program on my laptop so I go crazy and write songs.
Other than that, I'm a boring guy. I'm a family man and a hopeless romantic at heart - even though my wife could argue that on a few occasions!
I am currenly working on the first draft of a new novel that I have titled THE PASSING. . . my goal is to make it a series but only time will tell on that.
I am greatful for each and every person who has read and reads my stories. I thank all the people who follow me on Twitter and who take the time to comment on all my stories and continue to support me. With you, the reader, I'd be a guy with lots of stories and nobody to share them with!
